The Fairfield Eagles closed out tournament play with a strong 10 to 4 win over Blooming Grove this afternoon.
Fairfield jumped out early in the first inning, scoring two runs after an error and a Logan Williams RBI single. Blooming Grove tied the game in the second, but the Eagles responded with three runs in the third to take control. Collen Loviette, Gavin Thaler, and Zechariah Smith each drove in a run during the inning.
Jackson Murphy earned the win on the mound, allowing four runs with two earned over four and two thirds innings. Nolan Thaler appeared in relief to help secure the victory.
Loviette led the Eagles offensively with two RBIs while going 2 for 3 at the plate. Loviette, Smith, and Landon Cockerell each collected two hits. Landon Bostic showed patience at the plate with three walks.
Fairfield was aggressive on the bases throughout the game, totaling 17 stolen bases. Bostic, Loviette, Smith, Cockerell, and Williams each recorded multiple steals.
The Eagles travel to Westwood on Tuesday for their next matchup.
