The Fairfield Eagles jumped out early and never looked back, defeating Connally 9–1 Thursday afternoon in the Mart Tournament.

Fairfield put the game away quickly with a five run first inning. Landon Cockerell started the rally with an RBI double, followed by a run scoring single from Jackson Murphy. Logan Williams, Braxton Acker, and Landon Washington each drew bases loaded walks to bring in additional runs.

The Eagles added another run in the second when Landon Bostic walked to extend the lead to 6–1. Fairfield continued to apply pressure in the third inning, scoring three more runs with help from RBI errors and strong base running.

Cockerell earned the win on the mound, allowing just two hits and one unearned run over four innings while striking out eight. Nolan Thaler added a scoreless inning in relief.

Fairfield finished with hits from Hudson Wendt, Cockerell, Gavin Thaler, and Murphy. The Eagles also showed great discipline at the plate with seven walks and aggressive base running, stealing 15 bases in the game.

The Eagles continue play in the Mart Tournament Friday as they face Moody at 9am.
