The Fairfield Eagles picked up a strong win Friday morning, defeating Moody 11–3 at the Mart Tournament.

Moody took an early 2–0 lead in the top of the first inning, but Fairfield responded quickly. The Eagles scored five runs in the bottom of the first to take control of the game. Braxton Acker delivered the biggest hit of the inning with a bases loaded single that drove in three runs.

Fairfield added two more runs in the second inning. Landon Cockerell drew a walk and Jackson Murphy grounded out, each bringing a run home to extend the lead.

The Eagles continued to build momentum in the third inning, scoring four more runs. Gavin Thaler highlighted the inning with an inside the park home run that scored two. Landon Bostic later drew a walk to bring in a run, and Hudson Wendt added an RBI single.

Jackson Murphy earned the win on the mound. The starting pitcher worked four innings, allowing one hit and three runs, none of them earned, while striking out seven.

Zechariah Smith led Fairfield at the plate with two hits and also stole four bases. Acker, Bostic, and Thaler each drove in two runs as the Eagles finished with six walks and six stolen bases.

Fairfield continues tournament play Saturday with a 9 AM matchup against Mildred in Dawson.
