The Fairfield Eagles powered past Buffalo in a high-scoring matchup Friday night, earning a 14-10 win.

Both teams came out swinging early, but the Eagles took control in the bottom of the first inning with a seven-run surge. Kohl Collins delivered a key moment in the inning with a sacrifice fly that brought in two runs and helped flip the momentum in Fairfield’s favor.

Fairfield added to its lead in the sixth, plating five more runs. Connor Colvert contributed with a sacrifice bunt that scored two, while additional runs crossed on Buffalo errors to extend the Eagles’ advantage.

Zechariah Smith led the Eagles at the plate with a perfect 3-for-3 performance, including a double in the first inning. Landon Cockerell also had a strong showing, collecting two hits and earning the win on the mound. He pitched six innings, allowing seven runs, only two of which were earned, while striking out four and not issuing a walk.

Colvert, Collins, Collen Loviette, and Smith each drove in two runs for the Eagles. Fairfield also applied pressure on the bases, racking up 10 stolen bases in the game, with Cockerell, Smith, and Collins each swiping multiple bags.

Colvert closed out the game to earn the save, while Nolan Thaler provided relief on the mound.

Buffalo finished with 10 hits, led by Hunter Gore, who went 3-for-3 with three RBIs.

With the win, the Eagles continue to build momentum as they prepare to host Elkhart in their next matchup.
