The Fairfield Eagles faced a tough matchup Friday night, falling 12-2 to Groesbeck.

Groesbeck jumped out early, scoring four runs in the first inning and adding to its lead in the second. A big fourth inning helped the home team pull away and secure the win.

Connor Colvert took the loss on the mound for Fairfield, pitching three innings. Despite the score, the Eagles continued to compete and turned two double plays defensively.

Colvert, Collen Loviette, and Kohl Collins each recorded a hit for Fairfield. Colvert and Loviette also drove in the Eagles’ two runs.

Groesbeck was led offensively by Jaxon Jones, who drove in four runs, while Cannon Campbell added three hits and was active on the base paths.

The Eagles will look to bounce back on Tuesday as they take on Teague.
