Fairfield built an early lead and held on late to defeat Westwood 11–9 on Friday.
The Eagles took control early, scoring two runs in the first inning on a wild pitch and an RBI single by Jackson Murphy. They added two more in the second with a triple from Zechariah Smith and an RBI single from Landon Cockerell.
Fairfield broke things open in the third. Two runs scored on errors, and Smith delivered a two RBI double to extend the lead.
Westwood battled back and made it a game late, but Fairfield held on to secure the win.
Connor Colvert earned the win on the mound, allowing four runs over five and one third innings while striking out five. Kohl Collins picked up the save, and Murphy also saw time in relief.
Smith led the Eagles at the plate with two hits. Fairfield was aggressive on the bases, finishing with 12 stolen bases. Collen Loviette, Smith, Landon Washington, and Collins each recorded multiple steals.
Westwood was led by Brayden Sanchez with two RBIs, while John Velasquez and Ty Oberlander each had two hits.
Fairfield will be back in action Tuesday at Mexia.
