The Eagles came up short against Groesbeck on Tuesday, falling 6-3 at Madisonville.
Groesbeck took control in the third inning, capitalizing on an error and a run-scoring single to build an early lead.
Landon Cockerell went the distance on the mound for Fairfield, throwing 6.1 innings and allowing six runs, just two earned, while striking out four.
Offensively, Connor Colvert drove in two runs to lead the Eagles. Landon Washington added two hits, and the team showed patience at the plate with seven walks. Fairfield also stayed aggressive on the bases, recording four stolen bases, including two by Gustavo Aguilera.
Fairfield will be back in action Friday on the road at Teague.
