Fairfield track and field had a strong showing at the UIL 3A Area 19 and 20 Meet in Rockdale, with the Lady Eagles finishing second overall and a large group of athletes advancing to the regional meet.
The top four finishers in each event qualified for the UIL Regional Meet, set for May 1 and 2 in Huntsville.
Fairfield was led by several area champions. The 4x400 relay team of Faith King, Blayke Brackens, Imani Brackens, and Addison Shipley claimed first place and will advance to regionals. Madison Russell also earned a gold medal in the 3200 meter run, while Shipley added a first place finish in the 800 meter run. Blayke Brackens rounded out the champions with a first place finish in the triple jump.
The Lady Eagles had multiple runner up and top finishes that secured regional spots. Bella Campise placed second in the 800 meter run, Keira Alexander finished second in the 100 meter dash, and Brackens added a second place finish in the long jump.
Additional regional qualifiers included the 4x100 relay team of Keira Alexander, Reese Beaver, Kaylee Williams, and Blayke Brackens, along with the 4x200 relay team of Faith King, Blayke Brackens, Reese Beaver, and Imani Brackens, as both teams finished fourth.
Fairfield also saw strong performances in the field and hurdle events. Kaylee Williams placed third in the 300 meter hurdles, Tiana Gibson took third in the high jump, and Bryanna Willis finished third in the pole vault to earn regional bids. Kole Brackens added a fourth place finish in the discus, and Gracie Russell secured a regional spot with a fourth place finish in the 1600 meter run.
On the boys side, Brayden Thornburg led the way with a first place finish in the discus. Will Zachry also advanced with a fourth place finish in the discus.
Other contributors for the Eagles included Collen Loviette in the 1600 meter run, Rydge Davis in the 800 meter run, and Christian Sanchez and Jeremy Brackens in the hurdle events.
Fairfield will send a strong group of athletes to Huntsville as they continue their postseason run at the regional meet.
