Fairfield picks up a 3-1 win over Teague in a game that turned into a pitcher’s duel.

Both teams were sharp on the mound, but Fairfield found a way late. Gustavo Aguilera led the way, going 6.2 innings with 10 strikeouts while allowing just three hits and one run. He kept Teague off balance all night and gave the Eagles a chance to stay in it.

Teague struck first in the third inning, using a single to take a 1-0 lead. Fairfield answered in the sixth, tying the game after taking advantage of a Teague error.

The Eagles broke through in the ninth. Kohl Collins drew a walk to bring in the go ahead run, and a fielder’s choice by Landon Washington added another to make it 3-1.

Connor Colvert came in to secure the save and close things out.

At the plate, Fairfield got hits from Braxton Acker, Colvert, Zechariah Smith, and Jackson Murphy. Colvert and Washington each drove in a run, and Aguilera added pressure on the bases with two steals.

Fairfield moves on to face Mexia on Monday.
