Kohl Collins powered the Fairfield Eagles to a 19-2 win over Mexia on Monday with a huge night at the plate, hitting two home runs and driving in five runs. Connor Colvert added another standout performance, hitting for the cycle and leading the team with six RBIs.

Mexia jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, but Fairfield answered right back. A sacrifice fly by Landon Cockerell and a balk helped even the score before the Eagles took control in the second inning.

Fairfield broke the game open with six runs in the second. The big moment came on a three run home run by Colvert that gave the Eagles a comfortable lead. They followed that with a nine run third inning to put the game out of reach.

Collins highlighted the third inning with a solo home run and later a grand slam. Colvert continued his big night with a double as part of his cycle, while Jackson Murphy and Cockerell each drew bases loaded walks to drive in runs.

On the mound, Cockerell earned the win, going four innings and allowing just two runs while striking out five. The Eagles showed patience at the plate with nine walks and stayed aggressive on the bases, racking up 13 stolen bases.

Fairfield finished with 10 hits, with both Collins and Colvert collecting four hits each. It was a complete performance for the Eagles as they used timely hitting, disciplined at bats, and strong pitching to secure the win.

With the win, Fairfield finishes district play in a three way tie with Buffalo and Elkhart at 7-5. A play-in round will determine third, fourth, and fifth place, with Fairfield set to face Elkhart on Thursday, April 23 at 5:00 PM at Teague High School.
