Fairfield used a warm up game to get ready for the postseason, picking up an 8-6 win over Buffalo on Thursday.

The Eagles struck first in the opening inning, taking advantage of an error to go up 1-0. Buffalo answered to tie it, but Fairfield regained the lead in the fifth. Gustavo Aguilera and Connor Colvert each delivered RBI singles, and Collen Loviette added another run to make it 4-1.

Buffalo responded with a big inning to take a 6-4 lead, but the Eagles answered right back. Fairfield scored three runs in the sixth, highlighted by Aguilera’s two run double, to take a 7-6 lead and hold on for the win.

Zechariah Smith earned the win in relief, tossing two shutout innings. Landon Cockerell started on the mound, allowing one run over three innings.

Aguilera led the Eagles at the plate, going 2 for 3 with three RBIs. Loviette reached base three times with walks, and Fairfield showed patience overall with nine walks in the game.

The Eagles were aggressive on the bases, collecting nine stolen bases. Collins and Aguilera each had multiple steals.
