Fairfield Cross Country turned in a strong showing Wednesday at the Cross Roads Invitational, the Eagles’ final meet before the District Championships.
The Varsity Girls captured first place overall, led by Addison Shipley, who raced to an individual championship with a first-place finish. Emily Myers placed fourth, Imani Brackens seventh, Bryndle Daniel ninth, Grace Stephenson 12th and Bella Campise 27th.
The Varsity Boys finished second overall, with John Kuzmich leading the Eagles with a second-place individual finish. Rydge Davis placed 14th, Christian Sanchez 16th, Clayton Phillips 20th, Randon DeVillier 38th, Toley Meister 52nd and Noah Hoskins 55th.
Fairfield’s JV teams also had a big day. The JV Girls won the team championship, led by Gracie Russell in second and Denise Hanson in third. Ambrlyn Wright finished eighth, Jhanvi Patel 11th and Molly Malone 30th.
The JV Boys earned second place overall. Jett Jeffress led the Eagles with a fifth-place finish, followed by Isaiah Chavez in 12th, Evan Croteau 15th, Korbyn Payne 16th and Saeed Pjetrovic 38th.
With two team championships and two runner-up finishes at Cross Roads, Fairfield now turns its attention to the District Cross Country Meet on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the Fairfield Cross Country Course.
Varsity Girls will start at 8:30 a.m., followed by Varsity Boys at 9 a.m., JV Girls at 9:30 a.m. and JV Boys at 10 a.m.
The Junior High Girls will race at 3:30 p.m., followed by the Junior High Boys at 4 p.m.
